Flame Arresters: Additional
Elmac Technologies' flame arresters are used in a wide variety of applications globally, in addition to those described elsewhere on our Web site. Although these applications are too numerous to cover in detail, some of the more common ones are briefly described below:
Pumps - in-line deflagration and/or detonation flame arresters are frequently fitted to both the suction and discharge ports of vacuum pumps to protect connected equipment and pipe-work from an explosion initiated within the pump itself
Burners - in-line deflagration and/or detonation flame arresters are installed on the fuel gas feed line/manifold to burners
Electrical Enclosures - end-of-line deflagration arresters are often installed in the vent ports on electrical enclosures designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres
Flares - in-line deflagration or detonation arresters are always required for flare stacks found in oil and gas production, pipelines and gas plants
Fans and Blowers - in-line deflagration or detonation arresters are fitted to the intakes of fans and blowers
Petrol Stations - end-of-line deflagration arresters are installed in the vents for the fuel storage tanks found in petrol stations to protect the facility during filling and normal operations |
