Flame Arresters: Power Generation
Liquid fuels, in particular, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquid hydrogen (the fuel of the future), are widely used as sources of power generation in many diverse industries, including aviation, automotive and stationary power generator systems. Natural gas storage and compressed gas storage are complicated by the direct necessity of power generation involving planned combustion, so sources of ignition are readily available.
Elmac Technologies flame arresters are used to protect fuel supply lines, fuel storage and fuel filling facilities from fire and explosion in power generation, including gas turbines and combustion systems. A spark arrestor for a generator can prevent accidental ignition of volatile gas in the atmosphere as well as in pipe detonation or deflagration.
For example, arresters are used in vents from lubricating oil storage vessels and fuel gas vents (when the units are stopped the fuel gas system is purged and vented and so the vent lines have an arrester).
Elmac Technologies flame arresters and pressure/vacuum vents are effective devices to isolate any accidental flames.
